See all that fog? It was cold last night and we have a layer of ice on the roof. Looks like its going to clear so the sun should take care of that. The porch overhang needs to be sheeted, we have a valley to shingle here.

The shingles are stacked on the roof waiting, the end rafters and trim are being prepared for installation on the front porch.

The ridge rafter is positioned and nailed in place. It really is only a piece of trim on the outside of the siding as this is a truss system. An opening has to be cut through the sheeting to provide ventillation for the porch overhang.

The porch roof starts off with a modified dormer rafter and changes to truss roof on the porch overhang. Making some final measurements before we commit to cutting through the roof sheeting. . . and a view from underneath where the vent hole will be cut.

The roof sheeting has to be nailed down to each rafter. What's the matter? Are you out of nails, or did it jam? Air nailers make the job go a lot quicker here.

Ooh, temporary skylight! The vent is cut and we can once again see daylight through the roof.

The first end rafter is put in place. . . and then the last one is installed.

Two-thirds of the south side is nailed down at this point. It sounds like a battle is going on up there with two air nailers at work! Step back and check it out, looks like the rafters are ready for trimming so the fascia can be put in place.

The first course of roll roofing being positioned and tacked down with an impact stapler.

And likewise the second course of roll roofing. . . I'll bet you he tells you this is a mild day. Imagine being up there on a really hot summer day.
