The sheeting is being finished up on the other side of the porch. . . she's got this down to a science now and the stacks of shingles just keep melting away!

 

 

There are those last final angles to be figured where the sheeting meets in the valley.

The sky is congealing. Enough of the sheeting is on the porch so two courses of roll roofing are started along the porch roof and then one is laid up the valley. The final pieces of sheeting for the porch are being cut.

 

 

Here is detail on how the main roofing courses overlap into the valley transition to the porch roof. The course of starting shingles has been laid on the porch. And a view of the other side with the sun peeking through a hole in the clouds.

Time to stop for lunch! We can now eat with a roof over our heads. The blocking is being nailed in place for the porch ceiling.

 

 

This framing nailer punches 16 penny nails through two two-by-fours with such ease that it's driving them about an eight of an inch below the surface. Power! The beautiful bright sunshine is misleading. There is thermal activity going on to the west. All the courses of roll roofing are on except for the ridgeline. And we are soon to be drenched!

The roof trusses are tied to the double plate with these metal brackets. This picture doesn't do the downpour justice, we just got hit by a mixture of rain, sleet and small hail. It's cold!

 

 

The other side of the porch is still waiting for the roll roofing. . . And just that quickly, the showers have passed to the east. The final courses of roll roofing are being laid down.
