Some detail of the corner with temporary bracing for wind gusts. . . and here you see some inside corners. They consist of two studs with a third spacer stud placed ninety degrees and flush to the inside. You nail the interior wall stud to the center one and the two on the sides provide a ledge for fastening the sheetrock in addition to serving as wall support. The upper 2x8 in the double plate is notched so that the upper 2x4 in the inner wall double plate dovetails into it.

Some more wind bracing which will come out as we get interior walls in place. Another view from the outside.

A two inch band of material must be installed to cover the top plate. Installation from the inside with this scaffold is easier than from a long, shaky extension ladder that needs to be moved all the time. Making sure the marks are true.

Why bother messing around with a tape measure and square when you can just lay this jig in place and mark? Tack-nail the plates, mark the stud layout and then as in this wall, adjust stud position and mark the appropriate plate for cutouts.

Plans, materials and people come together to produce a house.

The first interior wall is up and it's really beginning to rain. The second one is laying there waiting to be erected.

The wall above gave us some grief. Don't nail anything down until you are really, really sure. Always provide yourself wiggle room when pipes, etc have to go through the plate, unless you are really, really accurate with that drill!
